The Dual Fuel Program is a controlled, home electric heating program that helps save money and conserve energy. This program combines two heat sources to best fit your home heating needs by taking advantage of a low-cost electric heat source combined with an alternative, 整个家庭备用系统.

Normally, the electric heat source provides 100% of your heating as needed. 然而, on the Dual Fuel program during times of peak electric load (when demand for energy is at its highest), the load control equipment switches the electric system off, and the back-up fossil-fuel source such as fuel oil, 丙烷, 天然气, or electric storage heat takes over for a period of time.
Heaters are controlled up to a maximum of 600 hours per heating season, with a maximum continuous control time of 12 hours per day. Dual Fuel was controlled on average of 38 hours during the past heating season (from the fall of 2022 through the spring of 2023).
- Participants must have an electric heating system combined with an acceptable home backup heating system equal to or greater than the electric system enrolled on the program. (Failure to have a working backup heating system will result in removal from the program.)
- This program requires the installation of a dual fuel meter and load control switch.
- Participants receive electricity used for heating at a discounted rate of 5.6¢/千瓦时. (Includes the PCA effective 01/01/2018.)

The Off-Peak 加热 program helps conserve energy by charging your electric heating system during off-peak hours when electric costs are lowest. 每一天, your heating system charges (typically overnight) then distributes heat in your home all day. You can enjoy comfort and convenience and save money too.

An electric thermal storage heater is a stand-alone, off-peak heating system that eliminates the need for a backup fossil-fuel heating system when sized properly. The system contains electric heating elements that lie within specially designed, 高密度陶瓷砖. These bricks can store vast amounts of heat for extended periods of time. The stored heat is automatically regulated in relation to outdoor temperature and the heating requirements of the user. When the room thermostat calls for heat, heat is extracted from the unit’s storage core and is distributed evenly in the home.
- Participants must have a thermal storage electric heating system.
- This program requires the installation of an off-peak meter and load control switch.
- No back-up is required; however, you may install an auxiliary fossil-fueled source if desired.
- Charging time (when the system stores heat) runs for 8 hours per day, normally between 10 p.m. 6 a.m.
- Participants receive electricity used for heating at a discounted rate of 4.45¢/千瓦时.
